Here are the Old Gits in question: It was taken in Les Gets in France in the Christmas of 2007. During this holiday we started the concept of the 'Old Gits Gap year'.
In short a window of opportunity was emerging whereby Dawn & I could finalise a dream to have our gap year. We had funded our two sons gap years and as neither of us had had the chance when we were young we thought it was time for us to take the plunge. The scale of planning such a venture has taken us a little by surprise but we are now edging ever closer to the 11th December 2008 where we finally leave for the Old Gits Gap Year. The house is rented out, we have our money which is devaluing at an alarming rate, but blow it we are on our way.
The first port of call is back to Les Gets for 8 weeks skiing but then after this we have only a few vague plans of where we will be going. Many ideas and lots of suggestions (some unprintable!) but phase 1 is to become 'proficient' at skiing. As we only started last year and the legs weren't what they used to be, this could be quite a feat of human endurance...

Old Gits - Needham here. Just wanted to be the first to leave a message for the old gits on the new blog.
Have a fun time and see you in Morzine. Don't worry about the cost - just remember, if you started out with nothing you probably still have most of it left.
Love

Dear Dawn and Philip
David family calling.Just received your Xmas card today and the note about your sabbatical.Good on you both I say-this life is no rehearsal and it sounds like it will be a fantastic adventure.Despite the financial melt down, boll**ks to the cost and go for it
Goood luck-we will keep watch via the Blog and see how you are progressing and in which part of the world.
If you are visiting Austria, call on Juliet and Bernie-would love to see the look on her face if Phil was standing on her doorstep!!
Great to hear that the boys are doing so well with their respective careers-is Ian still in Corporate Finance?Might be worth a move over to insolvencies at the minute!!
Anyway all the best-have a wonderful Christmas and New Year in France
Phil, remember Lions tour to South Africa in summer 2009.Just casually say to Dawn that you fancy Jo'burg for a couple of weeks around June time.If you are I'll fly over with Elliot and we can take in a couple of the Tests. One of my ambitions is to do a Lions tour before its too late-that and a Rugby World Cup Down Under.NZ in 2011 is a major draw.
Take care-best wishes to you and Dawn
Nick,Gaynor Elliot and Keira xxxx
